I recently learned a costly lesson about international shipping after purchasing a $1,000 item on eBay. The seller shipped it to the Philippines via NinjaVan, and everything seemed smooth—until the parcel disappeared.

When I contacted NinjaVan, they assured me the seller would receive a full $1,000 refund. But when I reached out to Buy&Ship, the service I used to handle the shipment, I was shocked. They told me I’d only get $100 because I hadn’t bought shipping insurance.

This left me baffled. Why was the seller fully reimbursed while I, the customer, was left with just $100? It felt unfair and raised questions about Buy&Ship’s policies. It almost seemed like they had a financial incentive for packages to go missing, as they kept most of the refund.

This experience taught me the importance of purchasing shipping insurance, even if it adds to the cost. It also made me more cautious about the services I use for international shipping. Losing $900 is a painful reminder of the risks of not being fully protected.

To anyone considering Buy&Ship or similar services, let this serve as a warning: always opt for shipping insurance and carefully research the companies you trust with your purchases. Stay vigilant and take precautions when shopping online, especially for international shipments. Don’t let this happen to you.
